Most of the icons for units and wonders of the world are from other scenarios.
The wonder "Babcock/Weissman academy" is named for the designers of BattleTech.
The "Unfinished Book Movement" is sort of a new religion in Davion space.
The "One Star Faith Observatory" is named for an obscure belief in Steiner space,
they believe, their founder had through a telescope seen a single star with a single
planet and in orbit above it the long abandoned ships of General Kerensky (yes,
THAT Kerensky). The "Thelos Auburn Theatre" acknowledges the famous Steiner historian,
the "Solaris Video Satellite" transfers video (trideo?) from gamesworld Solaris VII,
"Stephen Hawking" is called the successor to Sir Isaac Newton (besides other things,
he is at the same University AND in the same position), the "Heinlein Dam" is named
for one of the most well-known ScienceFiction-writers of 20th century, and the
"Campaign against Illiteracy" is just that, to teach reading and writing to
the masses.

About the new Units:
It has always irritated me to have simple infantry (riflemen) being stronger in
attack than in defence. Besides there are several different sorts of infantry
in the BattleTech-universe, so hence the new unit "Tank-Stopper".
And it has all the time troubled me to build fortresses which are quite inefficient
against aerial attacks compared to SAM-missiles built in cities. That's why I added
the new unit "AA-tank", formed after the "Mechanized Infantry".
The "BattleMechs" have similar values to that of a "Battleship" for reasons of playability
( the german version translates "battleship" to "Kriegsschiff" ("warship"),
which is the generic name for fighting ships ("Schlachtschiff" would be right),
and, in one scenario, it translates "chariot" to "Kutsche", which is the civil thing,
instead of "Streitwagen" ("battlewagon") ) .
The values of the new tanks lean on the "BattleMechs", though weaker.
My drawing/graphic talents are rather limited, so there are no real new Icons
for the tanks (I know, that the "Demolisher" and other Units don't look like
their "original" pictures, maybe next time).
The "Combat Engineers" are another new unit I always missed in the original game.
They replace (hopefully) the "Engineers".

One last hint: Whoever conquers the city called "Hive" (on the northern continent,
with those monsters), gets two (hope so) new Technologies.
I'm not telling which.

Enjoy!

P.S.: I do have two other Civ2-scenarios resting at the back of my head. One ScienceFiction-
scenario at Venus (leaning onto the Mars-scenario and lots of SF-literature), for this I
do have some (few) things already, and another scenario about the beginning of mankind
(some ideas from the NewWorld-scenario), which to date only exists in my mind. Maybe
someone could tell me, after playing my BattleTech-scenario, whether I should finish
those scenarios sooner or later.
